Equality impact assessments

Equality impact assessments are being carried out for key policy and procedure documents to ensure that we are complying with current equality and diversity legislation.

An Equality Impact Assessment (EIA) is a systematic mechanism for improving services by ensuring that individuals and teams think carefully about the likely impact policies, procedures or practices will have on our residents and the community.

An EIA is a process that assesses and records the actual, potential or likely impact
on each of the 6 diversity strands. This allows the policy writer or department to eliminate or minimise discriminatory impact and promote equality of opportunity.
