Genesis Housing Group held a Careers Open Day on 3 February at
Catherine Lodge in Southend to help unemployed residents improve
their chances of employment.
Around 50 people attended the recruitment fair which aimed to
recruit people to permanent and relief roles currently vacant at
Genesis. Workshops were held to help people polish their CVs and to
better prepare for interviews, whether or not they are applying for
jobs with Genesis.
This is one of several recruitment events being held by Genesis
around London and the South-East.
One jobseeker said 'I must say I really enjoyed being in everyone's
company at the careers day … You were all so very helpful, friendly
and professional. Thank you for your great support.'
Richard Barr, Deputy Director, Human Resources, at Genesis Housing
Group, said 'We had a very good turnout at the recruitment open day
in Southend, despite the weather. It was a great way to recruit
local people for local jobs as well as to serve jobseekers in the
local community. We were able to offer a better understanding of
what employers like Genesis are looking for in application forms
and in interviews.'
