Residents react positively at new housing exhibition

Thursday, June 15, 2006

Residents of the Girtin Road, Munro Road and Gulland Close area, Bushey, turned out in record numbers last week to view the new proposals for the redevelopment of their homes and the local area at a public exhibition.

PCHA, who are part of the Genesis Housing Group, held the public exhibition to enable people to view the development proposals, ask questions and to register their thoughts and views for the proposed plans.

The exhibition is part of a consultation process through which existing residents are helping to shape their future homes. One resident explained how the exhibition showcased the success of the consultation process, "I feel that our views have been listened to and taken into account", she explained. "As long as that continues I will support the redevelopment."

65 per cent of existing tenants attended and almost as many residents from the surrounding areas. Stephanie Kerbyson, PCHA Project Co-ordinator said; "We would like to thank the many residents, community members and councillors who took the time to come and view the proposed plans. It is very important that the plans are fully understood and that local people are involved in the proposals from the outset."

"The feedback we received was very positive and supportive. The whole consultation process has been extremely welcomed by, not only our tenants, but also the wider community."

Following the consultation a planning application will be submitted by PCHA to Hertsmere Borough Council to build over 200 new homes, half of which will be affordable. All existing tenants will be provided with new homes, which will consist of two-bedroomed flats and three and four bedroomed houses with gardens.
