Family fun day raises over £1,400

Thursday, July 27, 2006

Families from Bicknacre and surrounding areas visited in their droves a family fun day at St Giles, a supported housing scheme for vulnerable adults, helping to raise over £1,400.

St Giles, which is run by Springboard Housing Association, part of the Genesis Housing Group, is home for 29 adults, some of whom have learning difficulties and mental health issues.

Some of the highlights of this year's fun day included a majorette's display, bouncy castle, mountain dogs display and an organic fruit and vegetable stall.

The fun day, which is held annually, raises money which is used to help fund improvements to St Giles. This year the residents have decided to spend the money on a new summer house for the gardens.

Ursula Deith, Springboard Supported Housing Manager said; "We are delighted that this fun day has been so successful, thank you to everyone who came along.

It is very important that our residents are able to meet and interact with members of the local community and it something that they very much look forward to each year."
