Genesis appoints new Group Chief Executive

Wednesday, August 12, 2009

Genesis Housing Group today announced the appointment of Mr Neil Hadden as the Group's new Chief Executive.

Mr Hadden, currently Chief Executive of the Aldwyck Housing Group, will be joining Genesis in October. He succeeds the outgoing Chief Executive, Mr Anu Vedi CBE, who will be retiring from the Group at the end of September.

Mr Hadden joined Aldwyck in 2005 and led it through significant growth, increasing its stock from 6,000 to 9,000 units over a four year period, at the same time, improving its customer service rating to 'top quartile' performance.

Genesis Chairman, Mr Adrian Bell said that Mr Hadden was joining the Group at an exciting time. "The board is delighted to have appointed Neil Hadden to succeed Anu Vedi as CEO of Genesis".

"Under Anu's stewardship over the last ten years as CEO, Genesis has grown from an organisation managing some 10,000 units to a Group owning and managing over 38,000 units. In this time, Anu has helped Genesis develop into one of the most significant leaders of the RSL sector in the UK."

Mr Bell said he was very confident that with his appointment as the Group's new Chief Executive, Neil Hadden would be able to "build on this excellent track-record, taking Genesis to the next level, while delivering outstanding services to our customers."

Outgoing Chief Executive Mr Anu Vedi, who was part of the recruitment process, said that the Group had been in the fortunate position of being able to choose from a number of outstanding candidates. "Neil's track record speaks for itself. He is generally recognised as having turned Aldwyck into a dynamic, high-performing organisation, tripling its development programme and focusing on delivering excellent customer service."

Mr Vedi added that Neil Hadden's performance at Aldwyck and his broader background in social housing, clearly demonstrate that he has the necessary credentials to contribute to the continuing success of Genesis.

Commenting on his new role, Neil Hadden said, "I look forward to this opportunity with a real sense of excitement. Genesis is an outstanding and well-regarded housing group, and I know that I will be working with a very fine team to build on the strong foundations that already exist".
