The Agency and Hostel Services Team
The agency and hostel services team works with over 30 managing
agents to help deliver support services to tenants in over 100
different supported housing projects. Some of these projects are
shared hostels, some are care homes and others are standard self
contained flats and houses.
Our managing agents provide housing management and/or support
services on behalf of PCHA. PCHA provides the maintenance service
and works closely with our managing agents to ensure delivery of
appropriate services to the tenants.
People who live in properties managed by our managing agents are
PCHA tenants. In many instances PCHA provides permanent
accommodation to these tenants once they are able to live
independently.
The Sheltered Housing Team
This team provides support to approximately 250 PCHA tenants living
in our 13 sheltered housing schemes. Most of these schemes have a
scheme manager who is based at the scheme from 9am to 5pm, five
days a week. The scheme managers maintain regular contact with the
tenants and help to ensure that appropriate support services are
delivered as and when necessary.
All tenants living in sheltered housing have access to an emergency
service when the scheme manager is not available.
Two of our sheltered housing schemes are specifically for older
Asian people.
The Tenant Support Team
The Tenant Support Team mainly provides support to tenants living
in standard PCHA flats and houses (i.e. general needs
accommodation). Support is provided to people with a wide range of
needs in order to help them live independently in their home. The
support provided is based on an assessment of the individual's
needs so the length of time for which support is provided
varies.
Two members of the Tenant Support Team provide support exclusively
for PCHA's older tenants (i.e. those over 65 years old).
Two other members of the team are funded by the London Borough of
Brent to provide services to people who live in Brent, who do not
have to be PCHA tenants. These particular services are for deaf
people and for people with drug and alcohol misuse
problems.
