If you first became a tenant of PCHA before 15 January 1989 you
are likely to be a:
Secure Tenant
- Your rent is set by the local council's Rent Officer every 2
years.
- Rent Officers base their decision on the following:
-
- size of the property
- location
- condition and amenities of the property
- the rent of similar properties nearby.
If you disagree with the rent set, you can contact the Rent
Officer whose details will be on the letter telling you about the
increase.
If you became a PCHA tenant after 15 January 1989 you are likely to
be an:
Assured Tenant
- Your rent will usually be set under PCHA's points system and
reviewed annually.
- All properties start with the same basic number of points. More
points are added or deducted depending upon:
-
- the type and size of the property
- location
- other facilities e.g. central heating, garden,
parking
A property with a high number of points will have a higher rent
than a property with a low number of points. If you would like more
details on the rent setting points system please write to the PCHA
Rent Assessment Manager, Capital House, 25 Chapel Street, London
NW1 5DT.
If you are still unhappy with the rent set for your property, you
can appeal to the independent Rent Assessment
Committee.
